The Barmy Army

The Voice Squad Barmy Army is a vibrant and engaging ensemble for singers in Years 5–8, offering an energetic introduction to group performance within a supportive and community-focused environment. As part of the wider Voice Squad family, members are encouraged to build lasting friendships, develop confidence, and take pride in being part of a team that values collaboration, creativity, and shared achievement.

Rehearsals take place weekly and are designed to be both fun and instructive, combining lively musical exploration with carefully structured vocal and technical development. Repertoire spans a wide range of styles, including popular music, musical theatre, classical works, and Disney favourites, giving members the opportunity to experience varied genres while developing strong foundational skills in harmony, performance, and musicianship.

The Barmy Army places a strong emphasis on teamwork and collective responsibility, with creativity actively encouraged and every member playing an important role in the group’s success. Older Voice Squad members regularly support rehearsals as role models, helping to foster a sense of unity across the organisation and reinforcing its family ethos.

Entry is open to those in Years 5–8, with participation beginning via a trial session.

The Barmy Army rehearse from 12 noon to 1pm on Saturdays in Term time.
Rehearsals take place at All Saints Church, Park Rd, Bury Saint Edmunds IP33 3QW.
