
The Voice Squad Seniors is an advanced ensemble for singers in Year 9 and above, offering a challenging and rewarding musical experience. Members often remain with the group until their transition to adult responsibilities, with notable longevity exemplified by past members. This group engages in weekly rehearsals, utilising a structured system of Section Leaders and sectional practices to facilitate efficient learning and foster individual initiative.
Repertoire encompasses a diverse range of genres, including musical theatre, classical works, folk arrangements, contemporary pop, jazz, and world music. Performances feature complex harmonies, choreographed pieces, vocal percussion, and multilingual selections, including Latin, Italian, and Mandarin. All musical material is memorised and presented with artistic innovation, while rehearsals emphasise a high standard of technical proficiency and musical exploration.
The Voice Squad Seniors demands a significant commitment and is best suited for dedicated singers. However, the supportive and developmental environment has proven transformative for many, enabling individuals to cultivate confidence, interpersonal skills, and advanced vocal abilities.
Entry is by audition only for those in Year 9 and above.
The Seniors rehearse from 9:45am to 11:30am on Saturdays in Term time.
Rehearsals take place at All Saints Church, Park Rd, Bury Saint Edmunds IP33 3QW.
Fees are £80 per term, with a one-off £10 joining fee, and an additional cost for the required concert uniform.
